UFRaw - Download & Install

For MS-Windows users I have two installation versions. The “for dummies” version where you only need to download and run an installer and the “for geeks” version if you want to build the plug-in yourself.

I’m not a big fan of this operating system, so why does it get such special attention? UFRaw is a free software (as in free speech, not as in free beer). In this spirit I try to give the users the freedom to use it in any environment, even in environments like MS-Windows that try to take your freedom away by imposing proprietary standards on you. You are encouraged to use other free software like Gimp for editing your images, Firefox for surfing the net (in fact Firefox renders this page better), and OpenOffice for an office suite.

Another reason is that building UFRaw on MS-Windows is a bit tricky and not very convenient (did I say already that I don’t like this operating system). I actually create the MS version of UFRaw in a Linux environment, but I guess that most of the users of the MS version don’t have access to Linux, otherwise they would not need the MS version.
MS-Windows for dummies

Installing UFRaw is a two-step process:

1. Install Gimp-2.4.6 or later from the Gimp for Windows page.
2. Install UFRaw from here.

Both Gimp and UFRaw have a graphic installer. Just follow their instructions and make sure you are installing Gimp before installing UFRaw.

The above instructions assume that you are using MS-Windows 2000, XP, 2003 or Vista. If you are using MS-Windows 98, ME or NT4, you should install Gimp-2.2 with GTK+2.6 from the Gimp for Windows old versions page. You will also need to download libpng12-0.dll and put it in the GIMP-2.0\bin folder.

If you want a minimal installation, you can skip installing Gimp. You will still need to install GTK+2 from the Gimp for Windows old versions page and libpng12-0.dll. Notice that if you change your mind later and install Gimp, you will have to re-install UFRaw.

Hover Not Working in IE6 - SitePoint Forums

IE6 does this sometimes when there are blocks with undefined height. Adding height: 1%; solves the problem. It has to do with haslayout.
